ICAO 055 – Area Procedural Control Course (7 Weeks)
Overview:
This 7-week course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and skills for Area Procedural Control, starting with 2 weeks of theoretical training followed by extensive practical applications in a classroom and simulator environment. The course builds on topics from the ICAO 051 course, focusing on procedural separations and advanced control techniques.
Theoretical Training Covers:
- Approach Control General
- Terrain Clearance
- Cruising Levels and Charts and Symbols
- IFR Procedures, Clearances, and Holding Procedures
- Separation Techniques: Vertical, Longitudinal (Time and Distance), Lateral
- Coordination between Approach, Aerodrome, and Area Control
Simulator Training:
The practical phase is conducted in a procedural simulator, where students manage air traffic in a simulated environment, practicing vertical, lateral, and time-based separations. Both VOR/DME separations and handling traffic with and without SIDs/STARs are covered, culminating in handling complex situations such as missed approaches and emergencies.
Examinations:
Students must pass both theory and practical exams with a minimum score of 70%
